Motsuji Temple Hiraizumi Reviews
Motsuji Temple Jul 12, 2009
Mutsuji was once one of the main temple complex’s in all of Japan but most of the complex have been destroyed during time. Today only a little bit of the original complex is still intact. All that remains is a bit of the old earthworks and a bit of the foundation. But even though the original temple is long gone it is still a nice place to visit.
The main hall has been reconstructed in 1988 and is a pretty big structure - but you can see it is quite a modern building. In addition to the main hall you will find a couple of other buildings on the temple area - some of them have been reconstructed a few hundred years ago.
The main draw at the temple complex is not the buildings - but the garden area which is build up around a big pond in the middle with lots of iris’s which were in bloom in July when I went to the temple.
