Motorcycling in Cambodia Kampot Reviews
Motorcycling in Cambodia Jun 14, 2011
I like to ride in every country that I visit, but Cambodia was not the easiest, but is one of the best.
The major tourist areas of Phnom Penh , Siem Reap and Sihanoukville all have bans on renting bikes to foreigners, at least when I was there, but the lovely riverside town of Kampot has scooters readily available.
We stayed at RikkiTikkiTavi, which is by far the best place to stay, and they arranged bikes for us. They were 100cc Honda scooters, which were perfect for the job. We rode to Kep, which is a lovely seaside town where the peppercorn crab remains one of the finest and cheapest meals I have ever had. And the ruins of once lovely villas are a timely reminder of the countries recent past. We stood out amongst the locals, and the trip was all the better for it. And despite initial reservations, we found the locals polite and friendly, and unbelievably safe too.
