Motel One

This hotel is located very close to the Helmut Newton Photography Museum, the shopping street Kurfurstendamm, the Erotik Museum and shop, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the Zoo. The lobby is almost futuristic in style, with dark wood floors, leather cube stools, glass tables, and turquoise swivel chairs. There is 24 hour service and free wireless in the lobby. It was very comfortable with groups of people and singles coming and going.

The rooms have flat screen tvs, comfortable beds and top quality linens. It was very comfortable with the right amount of luxury for my taste. There was no bar soap, clock, or phone in the room, but if this is what it takes to keep the prices low, I'm all for it. It was 59 euros for the room, except on the big national holiday weekend when it was 20 euros on top of that.

I loved the weird electrofusion (?) music in the lobby - it was very soothing and gave me a sense of being very up to the minute/international/cool. I heard this type of music other places around Berlin, so maybe it's just what's 'in' over there.

There are Motel Ones all over Germany and new locations seem to be opening all the time. I will definitely stay there again, until such time as I can afford a true luxury hotel!
