Motel Bayterek Sapar Shymkent Reviews
A motel which is not a motel... but which is a very nice place to stay indeed! Aug 05, 2010
This 'motel' (just why this is called a motel when you can't park your car anywhere is beyond me) is situated in an upmarket mall and consists of some 50 or 60 large rooms on the second floor at the back of the mall.
20 bucks for a room with shared bathroom is expensive, even in Kazakhstan. However, in this case, Bayterek Sapar does actually represent a good value deal.
The rooms have a funky modern interior, come with comfortable bed, TV, fridge, air-conditioning and a small seating area. None of the rooms have private bathroom, but the share facilities are spotless. Don't expect much in terms of privacy though, the huge shared bathrooms have 2 or 3 showers each, which only have but a flimsy curtain to shield you from the outside world (men and women have separate bathrooms though).
There is even a sauna available, though there is an extra charge for this.
Staff is very friendly and helpful and reasonable English is spoken. The staff will gladly give advice on transportation to nearby sites or help get a taxi. Luggage storage is available as well.
Note that there is a four-star hotel called Klara Sapar Tsentr in the same mall. The breakfast which is included in the charge is actually served in the restaurant of this hotel. To find the reception of the Bayterek Sapar motel enter the mall on the right hand side and walk to the end of the corridor (on the right hand side, opposite an internet cafe).
