Hi there
I have just returned from a fantastic 5 months in Russia, based in Moscow. It was with work but I got to see lots of the sights. there are a few things i feel a traveller needs to know. Turkey Drop common in summer basically someone will drop money and when you pick it up to return it to them your problems start. You will be moved to a side street and told you have not given all the money back. Several people may appear to reinforce the point so you end up having to give extra cash. Best thing is to just keep walking and ignore it. Guys this does not happen often but best to know about it. Money officially only the Rouble and credit cards are legal payment. Cash machines It is reasonably common for people to set up cameras to see people putting pin numbers in a machine so beware and use caution. Stockmans nr Smolenskaya has a machine inside so safer as usually a security guy is hanging around. Please do not let this put you off as it is an amazing city but best to be aware
domes of the kremlin cathedrals …

I love a good public transport system
:) We caught a ferry along the Moscow River and saw the gold tipped onion domes
of the Church of Christ our Saviour (built after 1812, destroyed by the Soviets
and recently rebuilt to the original plans), as well as many small but
exquisite Russian orthodox churches. We past a 70m towering statue of Peter the
Great. At least… The seedy side of Piter |
