Morrow Mtn. State Park

Located in the foothills of North Carolina, Morrow Mtn. State Park is a wonderful place thats relatively off the beating path. The park has a wide variety of hiking trails the vary from easy to difficult and from 1 mile to 7 miles. Camping areas are available and its hard not to spend a couple of days here.

I took the Morrow Mtn. trail which leads from the visitor's center to the summit of Morrow Mtn. Its rated with a medium difficulty and is not overly difficult until you reach the last half to 3/4 of a mile which is very steep. The view at the top is spectacular and well worth the hike. There are picnic tables and restroom facilities located on the summit as well as a fresh water source. For those not looking to hike there is a road that leads up the side of the mountain though I found the hike a bit more rewarding.
