Morro de Sao Paulo Vacation Guide
Morro de Sao Paulo is on the island of Tinhare which is 308km south of Salvador, the capital of Bahia. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back and you can easily meet people there from all over Brazil and all over the world. You can get to Morro from Salvador by ferry, but because it can be a bumpy ride, many choose to fly or drive south and take a short boat ride to the island.
Most of the roads in Morro are unpaved so the only way to get around is by foot or tractor. "Taxi Drivers" are guys who put your luggage in a wheelbarrow and push it around for you.
The town is divided into five beaches, simply called 1st beach, 2nd beach, 3rd beach, 4th beach and 5th beach. The first and second beaches have the most hotels, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The third, fourth and fifth beach are more isolated and tend to be quieter. There is also a town center called "Centro," where there are pousadas, restaurants and shops.
