The Pearl Resort & Spa is a very relaxing and private honeymooning experience where we enjoyed privacy and hospitality with a distinctly Polynesian flare!

Probably the best hotel on the Island May 16, 2009
For the price and location, this is probably the best bang for you buck on Moorea. Close to a local grocery store, the airport and offers a variety of excursions.

Meals are expensive - but they are all over the island. Plan to spend $15-$20 USD on a drink and upwards of $30 for a basic meal (i.e. hamburger and fries)

As a general rule, the staff was cranky and often "bothered" by any questions you asked.

The SCUBA diving facility associated with the hotel seemed to have little regard to preserving the coral or wildlife as they constantly man-handled both.

Nice tropical Polynesian resort Oct 05, 2004
All valid points made in the previous review. To add:

We stayed in a thatch-roofed beach bungalow. It was a decent-sized cabin about maybe 50ft from the water's edge. Sliding doors opened onto a back deck with chairs & a table, facing the water and OWB's. Good spot. A little dark inside, but it had nice lighting to offset it.

Nice decor in the cabin. Dark wood & good quality furnishings. Fitting for the setting, and given the upscale price, what you'd expect to pay for something like this. The infinity pool here was really nice with great views of the tropical palm trees, the ocean, the tiki idols & torches. Paradise really.

Rented a car from the agency drectly across the street from the resort and drove a circle of the island in a day. Bought a black pearl en-route. Drove into the mountain interior and up to a popular lookout called, "Belvedere". It was worth the drive. Great views.

Yup. Food is expensive at the Pearl. There are several small, more affordable restaurants within a 15-minute walk from the resort, along with other shops. It was a fun walk; day or night, as there are lots of land crabs along the edges of the road (that can be surprising & quick). Met a nice, young couple from Michigan on their honeymoon too, who were staying in the next Gilligan's Island hut.

The Pearl in Moorea isn't quite as exotic or exclusive feeling as the Bora Bora Pearl Beach. Fortunately, it wasn't as expensive either. It was still really, really good.
