A popular coastal city, Mooloolaba is situated about 100km north of Brisbane on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Peppered with hotels for those seeking the sunny beaches and a laid back coastal atmosphere, Mooloolabah was firmly put on the map following the opening of its UnderWater World Marine Park. The popular atraction sparked the development of tourist infrastructure, including shopping areas and some excellent restaurants. UnderWater World itself has its own high profile, having featured in the Jacky Chan movie Police Story 4: First Strike.
Mooloolaba, which is an Aboriginal word for black water snake, has a population of around 11,000 people. If you are a scuba diver make sure you head for the Ex-HMAS Brisbane, which is a fantastic wreck dive just off the coast!

Here are some pics from my visit to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland to see my parents. They're from Noosa, Mooloolaba, Coolum and Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo in Beerwah... all fantastic coastal destinations I can recommend.

Have just spent a month in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Came here to get a break from uni. Have had a brillant time and met some awesum ppl - mostly nzer's and a lot of Germans. Def worth the effort to come up the coast if ur heading to tourist spots like gold coast. Its untouched and gorgeous here. A real holiday spot!! Heading home for christmas and sadly uni holidays are almost over but hopefully be back here soon!

I left Janet and Andrew’s on Monday, as soon as the postman delivered the new rego. With the car packed, I selected my first stop on the satnav up the Sunshine coast, Mooloolaba, and started driving. I didn’t really have a plan, my only commitment was to reach Harvey Bay by Thursday, because I had booked accommodation and a 3 day tour on Fraser Island. The first thing we noticed in Oz was the weather - it was nowhere near as hot as we'd expected it to be, especially after the scorching sunshine we'd experienced in Asia so far....its a strange concept coming from the end of winter in the Uk to the beginning of winter in Australia.
