Awesome sauce Jun 26, 2008
I've never been to this place before to eat the legendary and renowned BBQ (yet), but I did get lucky and was able to find their sauce at a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Salem, Ohio (in Columbiana County, near the PA-WV-OH junction). I married a girl who was born and raised in that part of the Buckeye state, and although we live in Charlotte, NC metro (the other Queen City in the US besides Cincinnati) we go up there to visit her side of the family and I take advantage of the opportunity to get some of the best food in the country (such as Trail Bologna, Ruggles Buckeye Blitz Ice Cream, Velvet's Buckeye Ice Cream, Montgomery Inn BBQ Sauce, Cincinnati Chili in the can as well as the seasoning mix, Vernor's Ginger Soda, Isaly's Chip-Chopped Ham and BBQ Sauce, etc) to take back to the Tarheel State that I don't have the luxury of being able to buy there. Anyway, I bought this stuff at around $3 a bottle at the Wal-Mart in Salem, OH, and I LOVE it! I like how there is a presence of Vinegar and Red Pepper flakes (which reminds me of the sauce that is most famous in Eastern NC) but it also has a very nice tomato base that reminds me of steak sauce, Heinz 57 sauce, BBQ sauce, and Heinz ketchup, all at the same time. I could eat this stuff on just about any kind of meat, for I've eaten it on grilled chicken, grilled steak, grilled pork chops, and grilled hamburger patties and I can't get enough of it. Although I have no family in the Queen City (or near there) region of Ohio, I'm still waiting for my chance to get to go to that part of Ohio so I can eat the legendary and renowned BBQ at the Montgomery Inn and look out at the Ohio River while I'm enjoying it.
