Montezuma Well is part of the Montezuma Castle National Monument. It is approximately 11 miles from the park. Montezuma Well is limestone sinkhole formed by the collapse of an underground cavern and is about 50ft across. Over one and a half million gallons of water flow from the well every day. The water has a high concentration of carbon dioxide. There is an abundant forms of wildlife that are found in no there waters in the world. There are many plaques describing all of the plants and wildlife. There are also many common creatures that can be found here. My friend almost had a squirrel jump up into her lap. You can see many Indian ruins along the walls of the well. It only takes about an hour to visit the site, but worth the drive.
