I've recently returned from a tour to Costa Rica. I traveled as part of an Explorica (www.explorica.com)group who specializes in providing educational tours for teachers and their students. As a staff member, I had the chance to follow a group for 10 days with the purpose of checking out the tour and making sure everything went well. It did! What is great is that this tour has so many activities that keep the students engaged and excited. We did everything from horeseback riding and kayaking to hiking and a canopy tour. This leads me to my next point as, for me, the Canopy tour was the highlight of the trip.
This activity took place in the cloud forests of Monteverde. The cloud forest is the part of the rain forest that is above the cloud line. This provides great views of the landscapes and allows you to see the forest from above. We were attached to a harness and we were able to zipline through the trees. Some of the zips were 600 feet about the forest floor and as long as a 1/2 mile. Incredible! I would highly recommend this tour to students and teachers alike as it's inexpensive and there's never a dull moment. Jesse- San Diego, CA |

After the canopy tour we went zip'lining. Boy was this fun! The lines differed in length from about 10m to nearly 1km, across the canopies. Its a lot like being on a flying fox except you are harnessed in. We also got to do rapelling where… Common or unforgettable??? |

So by lunch time we walked into town to assess our options and decided that a canopy tour would be the best way to spend the afternoon.
Although it was a little bit pricey it was really worth it. We went with Aventura because they also had a Tarzan swing which was amazing and the last two zip lines go across… Canopy Tour |

…different park trails (there are 13km of them) by myself but with significantly less success in spotting animal or birdlife so the tour guide was definitely worth it.
