Monterey Vacation Guide
Monterey, TN is a small town of just under 3000, located in Putnam County. It is roughly halfway between Nashville and Knoxville on I-40.
The town is serviced by a disproportionate amount of fast food restaurants, undoubtedly due to the presence of I-40. In the city proper there are a handful of local restaurants as well. There are very limited choices in which to stay. The Cabin at the Pond (Muddy Pond Mennonite Community), The Garden Inn Bed n Breakfast and The Wild Flower Vacation Rentals are pretty much it. There are more choices at nearby Cookeville and Clarkville. Attractions are also few, with the Muddy Pond Mennonite Community (has several things to see and do), and the Standing Stone Monument being noteworthy. With the Upper Cumberland Plateau so close, there are however plenty of outdoor activities nearby.
Weather in Monterey is mild. The summers are generally in the 80s and 90s, and the winters the highs are in the 30s and 40s. Late Spring and early fall are particularly nice.
