Monday morning we woke up and went to a place called Claremont Dinner. Its tradition now. I had a yummy french scrambled eggs with ham and chedder and home fries and toast and fruit. I hugged my girl and then I set off home. MY weekend was short but sweet.I took a different way home so that I could stop off in Monterey. So I took the 24 W to the 980W to the 101S to the 156W to Monterey. yay. I hit one accident on the way but it took me about 2 hours. Then I spent on hour in Monterey shopping ...

Perhaps living in Los Angeles for 9 years has spoiled me, but the Bay Area, although very beautiful is very cold and windy! There's a stretch of road that winds along the coast, giving you beautiful vistas of cliffsides with these amazing trees growing out of these huge rocks. Just to the East you have the Sequoias and other ginormous trees, some of which are hollow inside! These trees are very humbling, and throws you back to the days where everything was larger than life and huge animals ru...

This morning while the girls were out making some last minute purchases I had the hotel pack us some lunches for the drive back to LA. Our first stop was 17 mile drive well worth the toll charged, the girls were upset at the first stop on the drive which there was almost nothing to see and started to question my decision to go here. But that all changed when we got to next stop on the drive the beach where I surprised them with the boxed lunch with wine. I can no...

California's Central Coast. I could never tire of the beauty and serenity. Monterey has the large aquarium, Cannery Row, and Fishermans Wharf. Carmel-by-the-Sea is a cute town to stroll through. And Pacific Grove has great tidepools. I love finding sea creatures, always a surprise!

Winter quarter 2008 - doing a clinical in Monterey, California - a whole new place to explore! The pictures from Carmel Highlands are at Point Lobos State Preserve. Beautiful forest. Awesome seaside with crashing waves. I even saw a whale blowing air out about a mile off shore.

We spent the whole day driving around the Monterey peninsula. "17 mile drive" to be precisely. It is a scenic road that runs along the coastline and offers great viewpoints. we stopped at Panish Bay, Point Joe, Seal Rock, Fanshell Overlook and Cypress Point Lookout. Of course I took a picture of the "Lone Cypress", the official symbol of Pebble Beach. It is supposed to be the most photographed tree in the world. Well, I do not know. But it is definitely worth a visit. Vista is great! At the en...

A couple of years back I had the opportunity to spend the day at Laguna Seca Raceway watching the SCCA sports car races. There were several races throughout the day for the various classifications.
Laguna Seca Raceway as it was known then is now sponsored by Mazda so they throw their name at the beginning now.
We got up well before sunrise to make the drive from our home in the valley across to the coast and north to the Salinas/Monterey region where the track i...

Another fine day spent with the sister-in-law and the family. My sister-in-law is staying with us this week before moving to the East San Francisco Bay for a job. Today we went to the fish-and-kid-filled Monterey Bay Aquarium. I love this place, although today, the second day of spring break it was more jam-packed with people than I’ve ever seen before. I don’t recommend a visit on such a busy day; go early in the day or in the off-season.Just a half-day did us fine. The kids were s...
