Montauk is the easternmost point of Long Island, otherwise known as "the end".

It is the home of several state parks, including the famous Montauk Lighthouse, which remains a popular tourist destination in spite of the increasing erosion of the shoreline.

Montauk is flooded with tourists in summer, particularly for surfing, fishing, boating and seafood. In the winter, most of these attractions shut down, but the ocean, parks and and lighthouse are still viewable.

Montauk is accessible by train or car, both methods are a 3 hour-plus train ride from New York City.
