Monster Park Reviews

Jan 28, 2006

This bizarre park was built by an Italian soldier as a dedication to his wife, but it is an odd dedication at that. It is filled with surreal sculptures and buildings, but most of the sculptures are of fantastic looking monsters and creatures, hence the name of the park. What is especially fascinating is that this park was constructed in the 1550's, during the height of the Renaissance, which makes its weird, unorthodox art even more mysterious and appealing.

When the park was first built, it was so unusual that the local villagers believed it was haunted. Later on, artists like Salvador Dali visited here to find inspirations for their works. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, both for the uniqueness factor and for the funny photo opportunities.

Eaten alive!
Drunken, wobbly buidlings.
