Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center Lee Vining Reviews
Exhibits on Mono Lake May 12, 2013
The visitor center provides information on the history, geology, and wildlife of the basin. Stop by the visitor center to also view the permanent exhibits of Tufa, the unusual growth in the lake that looks like chalk.
Get information on walking tours, docent led tours to the Panum crater or south tufa.
During the summer, they are opened daily from 8:00 - 5:00 pm.
Call ahead to schedule a guided tour, we did not go on a guided tour since we kind of just made it there driving on tioga pass. We went on a self guided tour to the lake and spent sometime at the visitor center reading about the area.
PS: Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today.
