Mojo Plantation (Rainforest Retreat) Madikeri Reviews
A Rainforest Retreat Nov 10, 2012
A 12 km stretch of bad roads and potholes from the Madikeri city and you come into dense plantations and woods.
Mojo Plantation is a thoughtfully developed 25 acre of plantation with a handful of cottages and two tents and a creek babbling through it.
The owners are the unconventional well travelled Indian hippies who put a lot of efforts into this place which is evident. Guarded fiercely by 5 dogs, NO PHONE RECEPTION, NO TV, NO INTERNET, the campus is fully solar powered. Which makes this place a cut above the rest, filtering the fickle minded, shallow tourist out.
Traditional Coorgi cuisine is served everyday. The produce is from the plantation itself. The food freshly prepared every time. They would also be pleased to arrange a bonfire for you.
The cottages are spacious, charming and cozy. But definitely not for the fainthearted.
Cunning trails will guide you to the tents with separate bathrooms with a rustic charm which will make you want to have a shower.
The manager Archana was witty and friendly and was kind enough to give us a plantation tour and to organize a wonderful trek the next day.
Take a few days off, leave technology and worries behind and retreat into the rain forests of the western ghats here at Mojo's. You will find your own spot.
