Moho Live Manchester Reviews
Moho Apr 18, 2010
Moho Live is a sweaty little venue in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, not to be confused with Noho, which is a bar with cool art on the walls.
Regular readers will not be surprised to learn that I do not use the term “sweaty little venue” as an insult. Au contraire, I love Moho. OK, the stage is so low down that short people like me can’t see a damn thing if there are more than three other people at the gig. And getting out at the end seems to involve a bizarre detour through a completely different room. And the merch is right in the middle of the queue to get out.
Who cares? It is a great place to see a band live. The bar service is quick, the tickets are affordable, and the floor is the right amount sticky. The sound is great, at least partly because the place is so small, and the room feels dark and intimate. And given that this is Manchester, there is a good chance that if you lose your shoe in the mosh pit someone will give it back to you.
Moho Live is almost next door to Afflecks Palace, and close to one of the nastiest, blue lit, narrow little alleys you can imagine – you don’t have to go down that alley, but for some reason my boyfriend always does.
