Mobridge Overview

Mobridge is a town of about 3500 (constant since 2000) located along US Highway 12, South Dakota Highway 20 and the Missouri River in Walworth County in Northern South Dakota not far from the border with North Dakota. The area was long the home of the Lakota Sioux and was settled by European Americans in 1906 when the railroad came here. The town was named for the railroad bridge built across the Missouri River here. Famous Sioux Chief Sitting Bull was born near here and his remains may be buried nearby (there is some dispute about that). There is a Sitting Bull Monument where his remains may be.

Mobridge has a nice museums covering the history of the area, the Sioux Nation, and Sitting Bull.
