Moat Khmong bridge Kompong Cham Reviews
Fishing the Cambodian way Oct 29, 2005
Should you be crossing the Mekong River near Kompong Cham, make sure you stop at the Moat Khmong bridge. Not that the bridge itself is so interesting, but you'll see a typical way of fishing near the bridge. And you can buy fresh fish near the bridge should you feel the urge.
The bit below is from my travel journal.
The most interesting stop was by the Moat Khmong bridge which was donated to the Khmer by the Japanese. Here we witnessed an interesting way of fishing. Along the river small boats, complete with houses were lined up. These boats were equipped with huge fishing nets which were lowered in the water and hauled up after a few minutes. Any fish caught in the net was then removed and (so it seemed) immediately sold by the side of the road. A fascinating sight !
