MoMu: The fashion Museum - Antwerp - TravBuddy

Since 2002, the fashion museum of Antwerp (Belgium's fashion city) is located in the "ModeNatie" (translated: fashion nation), a renovated historical building in the center of Antwerp. The Flanders Fashion Institute (the fashion department of the Antwerp University) is integrated in the ModeNatie as well.

The MoMu is a popular museum because of the popularity of the Belgium Six, a group of designers that gained world wide eminence after graduating in the early eighties, and made Antwerp's fashion famous. Those six people are: Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs and Marina Yee.

The entrance to the MoMu museum costs 6 euros (4 for students). The expositions are closed until the 13th of july 2007 (due to reconstruction works) but will reopen soon, with a special exposition by Bernhard Willhelm.

To buy Antwerp 6 fashion you have to look for their shops at the "Meir" and the surroundings of the "Kammenstraat". Second hand, yet recent designer clothing in excellent quality is found in the "Labels inc", in the "Aalmoezenierstraat 4".
