Over this past summer 2 girlfriends and I traveled to Zanzibar, Tanzania for a beach holiday. It is about a 45 minute drive to the northeast side of the island and while I may suggest having them pick you up and drop you off from the airport - we hired a car and drove ourselves. Although the road are fairly well marked, we managed to get a bit lost and extend the length of the drive by 0.5hr - the scenery was spectacular and the people so beautiful so the drive is definately worth it!We planned to spend two nights at the Mnarani Beach Cottages, but because it was so wonderful we decided to modify our plans and spend an extra night - i would have like to stay for an extra week. The people who work at Mnarani are very curteous, kind, fun and helpful. They keep the up the grounds immpeccably and the food was very good. The cottages are modest but clean and perfectly situated near the Indian Ocean. It was such a great way to relax, read on the pourch or the deck and just soak up the sweet smelling air!
