Mitland Hotel Utrecht

This hotel is a very good one if you would like to stay in Utrecht. It is a bit out of the city centre (10 minutes by car off-peak, 30 mins in peak hour traffic) which is a bit of a draw back, but the location is very nice as it is right beside some water in a park.

I booked this hotel through www.booking.com, and when I got to the hotel I was upgraded to a better room which apparently is normal if they have the space and you stay for a few nights. So I got a room with sitting area with a fold-out couch (sofa bed), desk and balcony, and a sleeping area with twin beds and balcony and plenty of wardrobe space. There was a little kitchenette as well but this was locked, presumably you can pay extra and have the use of it? There was also a mini bar. The room was comfortable and clean, great for a few days stay!

The hotel has a lot of facilities, there's a bowling alley, a pool, sauna and steam room, and three restaurants and a bar. The pool etc were included in the price. There were also vending machines throughout the hotel, so always a midnight snack available! The hotel also has plenty of parking.

I tried all three restaurants while I was there. As I was working and didn't feel like traipsing all around town after being on my feel all day it was very convenient. The only problem was that whichever restaurant I went to, it just too forever to get anything to eat! Even when we said we wanted to have a quick dinner it took over two hours, and the longest we took to have dinner was about four hours. Not great when you are tired and have more work to do after dinner! That was the only downside though, and admittedly the restaurant was very new when I stayed there so it might have improved since then. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
