Great Colonial Lunch Apr 10, 2002
I love this place! It is almost reason enough to visit Thomas Jefferson's home in Monticello. It is next to Jefferson's property and is only open for lunch. You buy a ticket and then take a tray cafeteria style to the buffet, where you pick from various tasty, colonially prepared dishes to try. The green beans and fried chicken are the best I have ever had. The servings are generous. The dining room feels like a colonial cabin. The staff, dressed in period costumes, comes around with more pieces of fried chicken. Now I try to stay fit, but do yourself a favor: Gorge on the food here and skip dinner.

Great write up. My husband and I loved their fried chicken. Their side dishes (me - beets and mashed potatoes, my husband - black eyed peas and mashed potatoes) and corn bread were average. For dessert, I had their delicious peach cobbler ala mode.
