Mister Beem Hostel Milan Reviews
A hostel in a nice Loacality May 08, 2010
we booked this hostel in a hurry while leaving Switzerland and our budget tour had a three nights penalty on a single night while staying at an expensive hotel. So we booked a hostel in Milan for the night to come.
We reached Milan by train around 2235 hrs and went for dinner in a restaurant just outside the train station and got our guidance for the hostel. While in the bus we asked a lady to confirm the stop we had to get off from the bus. But it was nice of her to lead us to the street of the Hostel. Though it was almost arun fo we as she walked with quite some pace After this small walk we located the hostel and name of the hostel was Mister Beem.
We went into the common area and a lady (I think Sara) was there to welcome us and as this was the first hostel that we were going to experience as in the previous hostels we used to stay in a separate room and this time it was a dorm. But the things were not as simple as they looked, due to full occupancy they had two different beds in two different rooms and my father was quite angry at the reception lady. I had a little objection but that was no more an issue when I was shown my room. The youngsters had their living on the first floor and relatively elder stayed at the ground floor. The dorm I was allotted was a mixed dorm with 5 bunk beds and 7 ladies and three guys including me. Of course I had no complaints lolz :).
It was already around 1230 hours and one group of girls was almost ready to move out and my bunk mate was working something on the internet. I was greeted by the two student of Lithuania who spoke English with some difficulty and we started exchanging our travel stories. The name one of the guy was David and he was a nice person to talk to. These two guys started giving me tips for my travel in Milan and here my Bunk mate poured in. She was from France and studying in Poland as an exchange student. We had these group discussions till 0300 hrs in the morning and I had to call off as I knew my father would wake me up early in the morning. And the same thing happened, but my bunk mate was also very helpful in telling me the best ways to move around.
The hostel in a birds eye view was not very impressive and may be arrived late as it was not that much clean. Beds were just average with limited number of power sockets to recharge the cell phones / camera per bed. Washroom was just ok. May be it was my first night in dorm thats why i had these observation. there were no locker available, just find a place and store your luggage. At the arrival we didn't have very good view about the hostel administration. But in the morning our opinion changed and found these guy very helpful and cooperative.
As we in a transit in Milan with no plans for extending our stay here we quickly had a quick walking tour of city center and as the hostel was quite near tothe Duomo Cathedral, Sforzesco castle and all the famous shopping streets like Monte Napoleone Street, Via Torino, Via Porta Ticinese and Corso Buenos Aires) so we didn't waste much time in traveling in public transports. We had an ample amount of time to visit the city center.
A group of girls had their flight cancelled due to volcanic eruptions in Iceland and they were quite panicked and even one of them forgot her credit card on the table. But the staff allowed them to use their work computer which in normally not allowed to use.
