Miss Donut Can Tho Reviews
cute little place to fix a sweet craving Jul 22, 2013
Miss Donut is not merely a donut shop, but a nice bakery annex coffee shop / tea lounge on Vo Van Tan in the tourist quarter of Can Tho. According to the website, there are 3 such shops in Can Tho, but this is the only branch we encountered. We were lured in by the funny sign and the inviting looking cakes in the window.
Miss Donut has a cozy yet modern interior with ample seating space. Upon entering there is a wall full of displays from where you can help yourself to a multitude of miniature donuts, cakes, cookies and all sorts of sweet and salty pastries. It is pretty much the same concept as what you find in for example “Bread Talk”. Only here the items are all mini. This is good because it means you can try a larger variety!
After selecting whatever tickles your fancy, you walk your tray over to the counter where it is either wrapped up for take-away or presented on a nice plate for eating indoors.
In the back of the shop, there’s a counter with fresh fruit salads and larger items. I presume here you pick up made-at-order birthday cakes etc…
On the table there’s a menu for drinks and snacks. Among various juices, shakes, coffees and teas, they also serve bubble tea. Apart from a nice variety of mini cakes and donuts, I ordered the strawberry bubble tea. This was iced milk tea with strawberry pearls and a dot of whipped cream – nicely presented.
The cakes were yum, though some a bit on the hard side. Given that we entered late in the afternoon, these items may have been out there since morning. Yet the taste was more than alright. Before leaving I also bought a small selection for take away, which was wrapped up nicely in a plastic container and was still tasteful at breakfast the next morning.
A nice plus is that Miss Donut features free WiFi.
We came at a quiet time of the day, but the place did see a few local patrons; most for take-away, but also a few that came by for afternoon tea and sweets.
Service was not that fast but acceptable and the staff did make an effort to serve us well and prices were more than budget friendly - even for Vietnamese standards! I can surely recommend this cute little place for a caffeine and sugar fix on your passage through Can Tho.
