Minsk Overview

Minsk is a beautiful city.

Actually it is the national capital, and also the largest city in Belarus.

Minsk was mentioned in chronicles first in 1067, and now this date is considered to be the founding date.

If you visit Minsk you should definetely see:

Troitskoye Predmestye (Trinity suburb) - carefully restored first settlement on the bank of the river Svisloch;

The Square of Victory with Obelisk to Hero City Minsk.

National Art Museum of Belarus - they have a very good collection there.

Ancient Belarusian Cultural Museum might be interesting.

A lot of wonderful parks. One of them is Yanka Kupala's Park with a beautiful fountain.

Holy Spirit Cathedral, Cathedral of St. Virgin Mary, "The Red Church", Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Church of Holy Trinity - and I mean that architecture is really great.

If you have more time in Belarus, don't waste a chance to visit Mir castle near the village Mir, Nesvizh castle near Nesvizh town. These castles are added to Unesco World Heritage list.
