Splendid Park Apr 04, 2015
Miniaturk is the world's largest park of mini models of the important landmarks that can be found in Turkey and counties that were once a part of the Ottoman Empire. There are 105 models of which 45 present structures from Istanbul, 45 from Anadolia and 15 from the rest. It is an open- air park, in Ornektepe Mh., near the top of Halic and on the same side with the Galata Tower.

For me personally it was a nice experience to see mini-copies in 1: 25 scale and remember all the landmarks from other parts of Turkey I have seen on my earlier journeys. This is a wonderful place for children where they can spend several hours playing around on a sunny day.

The ticket for Turkish citizens costs 5TL and for foreigners double more. You must tell in what language you want a ticket, which you can use in front of every model as a voice explanation of historical facts about it.

On the exit there is a souvenier shop which you can enter only from inside the park, in other words: with an already bought ticket. The park can be visited every day from 9a.m. until 7 p.m., on weekends until 9p.m. In front the entrance is a large parking lot.

An original idea for history Jan 02, 2012
It's an open-air museum contains lots of historical buildings. The miniature types of course. The place has growed since I've been in there for the first time. They have added a cristallografic museum and a place to get picture in Padisah's costumes.

The miniatures are great. There are many of them from quite different regions both of Anatolia and Thrace. From early Seljuk's period to later Ottoman architecture. There are also a few buildings from Republic times. Miniaturk is really worth a visit.
