Mingun Overview

Mingun is a village on the banks of the Irrawaddy (now known as Ayeyawaddy) River in Myanmar. It is about 12 kilometers or 7 miles from Mandalay. The biggest ringing bell in the world is located in Mingun, and it is still in good ringing condition.

To get to Mingun one has to take a ferry boat from Gaw-wein jetty/pier in Mandalay. The boat ride takes around an hour.

You can also go to Mingun in about 30 minutes by car from Sagaing, but I would recommend the boat ride from Mandalay as you can see the life of the people along, and on the mighty Irrawaddy river.
