Help clear Laos of UXO Nov 16, 2009
Many people don't realise that Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the history of warfare. During the Vietnam War the UD dropped two million tons of bombs and cluster bombs on Laos, both to get rid off surplus munition after flights over Vietnam and targetted bombings on Lao and Vietnamese communist troups. Many civilians got killed during these bombings and complete villages were wiped off the map. Up to today unexploded bombs and 'bombies' from cluster boms continue to disfugure and kill civilians in Laos, very often children, because 10-30% of the bombs never exploded and are still scattered across eastern and southern Laos. MAG works together with Laos UXO to clear the country of this dangerous and undeserved legacy.

MAG had an office in Phonsavan that runs documentaries, provides information and sells T-shirts for a donation of $10. UXO is an undeniable fact in Laos, don't turn away and ignore it. Laos is more than sight-seeing and eco-tourism alone. Visit the MAG office, buy a shirt and/or make a donation to help prevent further suffering.
