Mindo

Situated northwest of Quito, Mindo is a hidden paradise 1,300 m (4,300 ft.) above sea level. Over the past few years, it has become a favorite place for birdwatching and the observing insects and plants.

Mindo has 450 species of endemic birds, 90 species of butterflies, and an amazing tropical cloud forest. Visit a butterfly farm, and learn all about the lives of these amazing insects. Also enjoy an exciting rafting adventure on the Mindo River. The trip would not be complete without a visit to the orchid garden to discover the wonderful Ecuadorian orchids.
