Mindo Garden Reviews
Being in touch with the nature at Mindo Garden Jul 16, 2009
Mindo Garden is more like a lodge than a hotel. It's no building, but a group of charming cabins. It's not cheap, but not too expensive. Nevertheless, it's expensive for the standards and if you are in a budget you might not choose this one.
Anyway, what you get for your money is very fair. The location is very good since you are not that close to the main square and there are no disturbs, so you enjoy the nature. The Mindo river crosses the property, so you enjoy your own river close next to the cabin . The negative part is that you either walk everyday to the town or find someone who could drive you, but walking is healthy... In the other hand is located very close to the butterfly farm.
Although, you are in the middle of the jungle. This place is spotless. The wooden floors are always shiny, maybe because nobody is allowed to wear shoes inside the cabins. Yes, like if you were in Asia, you have to leave your shoes at the entrance.
There are amenities, like board games, communal tv, pool table, etc. But the biggest highlight is their private trekking path. It's awesome and you feel like if you were in the middle of the jungle. You don't have a tv in your room, so you enjoy the nature as much as possible. It's great to be waken up by birds and the sound of the river.
The hotel is not a big one, they have a certain amount of rooms (9), distributed in 9 cabins. If you are going with friends, you can arrange to have the whole cabin like your house in the jungle. The rooms are really nice, not too big but very comfortable and so well decorated. The bed is very good and perfect to rest after a long day working out.
Bathroom and shower work very well too. Nice pressure and hot shower. Also the breakfast is very good too and you feel so safe.
And well the service is just great! The staff is always ready to help you. Contact Rodrigo San Martin - the administrator. I contacted him in Lima and he was always there for us. Even picked us up when we were walking. You'll never feel alone here. Highly recommended.
