A friend and I hiked part of Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park of Maine on June 30th, 2007.  Baxter Peak is the highest point in Maine at about 5,200 feet.  Mt. Katahdin is also the start (or finish) of the Appalachian Trail.  It was an awesome hike.  We got up around 3:30am to get to the gate by 4:30am.  They open the gate to the park at 5am, and we were told to get there a little early because cars line up since they only let in a finite number of hikers per day.&...
