Desirable neighbourhood Apr 19, 2012
I stayed in this hotel in March 2010.

This was my first trip to London and work booked me into this hotel for 2 weeks.

Check-in was done swiftly upon my arrival in the late afternoon. The hotel lobby has plenty of chairs and sofa which is great while waiting to meet your colleagues or friends.

The room is very spacious by UK's standards. Decor is alittle outdated as like most chain hotels. Bathroom was very spacious as well and has a bathtub. Had a small hiccup one evening whereby there wasn't any hot water for bathing due to a burst pipe which also resulted in a mini flood in the gym.

The gym was rather small but it wasn't a major problem as not many guests seem to use the gym.

Breakfast buffet at the hotel was just a small selection with not even the slightest variation at all during the 2 weeks stay.

I had drinks at the piano bar in the lobby which is quite nice. The bar manager (I think he is) was friendly.

I had dinner one evening at the Japanese restaurant at the hotel. It was crowded and food was good.

It is in a fantastic location. The hotel faces Grovesnor Square in Mayfair and a short walk brings you to Oxford Street for shopping and Hyde Park. Bond Street station is less than 10min walk while Green Park station is about 15min walk. you can even walk to Buckingham Palace if you fancy a slightly longer walk. There are some restaurants and pubs around the area but are slightly more pricey, presumably because of the location.

"Cheap" for London Jun 16, 2011
Stay here whenever i am in london for work. plenty of other hotels to stay but its near my office...

nice clean rooms. a bit small for the price (then again, this is london) though having said that Price is acceptable for london rates.

10 mins walk to Bond St and Selfridges. nice quiet area. Hyde park is 10 mins walk away too. Tube station is about 10 mins walk away.

Not good if you do not like to walk. Most major touristy places are a little too far to walk.

Millenium Hotel Mayfair London May 11, 2010
I stayed at the Millenium Hotel a week before Alexander Litvinenko was poisoned (alledgedly by the Russian Secret Services). This freaked me out.

That event is not the only reason why I would not stay at the Millenium Mayfair again. The hotel was nice, but the room was small and damp. Furnishing was old and and the bath room needed update desparately.

pointless 5 star Jul 27, 2009
my first time in a 5star (biz trip), so can't really compare but.. i d never spend that money in such place. extremely expensive for "ok" classy place.

more than once i didn't find towels in room and had to call recep. restaurant served the most expensive water without u explicitly asking for it. In my case they also mistakenly debited an extra meal that wasn t due..

keycards failed twice. Doorbell and phone didn't work

wired internet costs 20 pound a day (hello, i always had free wifi in crappy hostels!)

laundry service costed 3 times the value of my clothes (3 pound to wash a pair of crappy socks?!) plus the time to unwrap them from plastified , new-looking package. (what s the point?)

phone calls 4£ a minute..

reception staff never smiled, immigrant waiters\tress did

If i had to pay the bill I would have probably jumped off the window.. oh, btw, u can only lift it up 20cm and the aircon doesn't go any higher then 23 C°

Luxury hotel Mar 12, 2009
This is a Highly recommended luxuary hotel in London, no complaints would definately go again. Ideal location to see a show, we saw one and it was only a short taxi ride away. The decor inside is beautiful marble and highly polished flooring, and there are guards with cute little hats on the doors which make it seem really posh there. hehe.
