Overnight at the Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai Jun 15, 2008
The Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai
On a 12 hour layover in Dubai, Emirates booked my daughter and I, into the commercial wing (the more upgraded, prettier wing of the hotel) where most of it’s overnight business traveler are accommodated. I have slept at the Millennium hotel more than 5 times in the 10 years I, have traveled as a Skyward member of Emirates. The difference this time was that it, was the first time I, was traveling with my seven year-old daughters. The hotel is not exactly a 5* hotel, but compared to the few others I, have used before, it might pass well for one. The room we stayed in was very spacious with two twin beds that were shy of an American queen-size bed. The air-conditioning was rather too cold considering we had just flown in from New York where the weather was warm, and prior to that from Phoenix, which was at 104 degrees. It is conveniently located just 10 minutes away from the airport and is serviced by complimentary shuttles that run every 30 minutes to and from the airport – this is courtesy of the hotel, not Emirates. This is a service that is very convenient considering it would cost a handsome amount to call a cab. My daughter and I arrived at the hotel a few minutes after 9:00 pm local time due to long lines at passport control. At check-in, we were given restaurant coupons for food and snacks, room keys and reminded that our wake-up call was set for 6:00 am. The staff at the hotel are very friendly – all look like they were brought in from Asia (Philippines) especially for the millennium hotel (just joking). The amenities are at the hotel are great and beds very comfortable. Good restaurants and bars, other services like laundry, room service, Internet connection in individual rooms (which I must warn is rather expensive - $15 for an hour connection). The hotel reception always puts in a wake up call at 6:00 am local time to allow for breakfast before transfers to the airport. The only inconvenience is that it seems construction work is taking place every where including on the bypass connecting the airport to the hotel. On this trip, our ride to the hotel was very smooth. I, did appreciate the hotel’s proximity to the airport and business area. The Millennium Airport hotel is located in easy access to most everything in Dubai actually. I, would recommend this especially for business people, single travelers but not for families. I’ don’t find this a children friendly set up. Older travelers, girlfriends, boyfriends would love this hotel. I did see some honeymooners, but I personally would not choose this for my honeymoon. My daughter and I enjoyed the buffet dinner and breakfast, which had a variety to choose from. The taste of the food was uuuhhmmmm, incredible. The desert options with freshly made fruit, juice, coffee and teas. The staff at the restaurant was exceptionally friendly and helpful – my daughter asked for tea twice just because the lady serving us was pleasant |

Nice place at a nice price Nov 01, 2009
I travel to Dubai every couple of months and for the past year my friends and I stay at the Millenium Airport Hotel in Dubai. No matter what time we arrive we get a room without a reservation. What generally happens is that we try to decide on a hotel and end up just going to the Millenium. We usually do two beds and it costs us roughly $100 US. A few times we split the room 4 ways. They didn't seem to care that we had others staying in the room. They only gave us two keys though. They'll require a single credit card to put the room on but whenever you check out they will split it as many ways as you want. The rooms are always clean and are not overly appointed. The beds are not the most comfortable I've ever slept in but they are clean and room service will bring you as many pillows as you want. You'll probably want to request a few. The pillows are not very big or fluffy. This hotel does have one annoying thing that I really don't like about hotels but for the price it's not really worth complaining....the internet. There is a service charge by the hour or for the day. I think I tolerate the internet because we too busy boozing it up to get on the net. That brings me to another point. This hotel has two restaurants downstairs. Well actually three. The third is the restaurant lounge. Mr. Biggles is a bar that has live music often and other various social events each night. Cactus Jack's is the other. It is a mexican style restaurant with an endless flow of chips and salsa and pretty good margaritas. All in all for the money and proximity to the airport the Millenium is a good deal. Oh yeh, the airport! It's only about 5 minutes away. The hotel offers free shuttle service each way. If you don't take the shuttle from the airport don't worry the taxi's will get you there for about $5 US.
