Luxury hotel in Bangkok Jul 31, 2008
I splashed out and got an executive suite. i had been trekking for a month in Nepal and this hotel was the perfect contrast. There is an executive suite bar, and there is free alcohol from 6 to 8, this swung it for me! :-)

Spotless bathroom,Amazing Staff Aug 24, 2009
This hotel can be very cheap if you just do your job in the web looking for offers. It's a good value. The check in was a breeze, very professional, offered a breakfast on the go, since I will be leaving at 4 am (my first experience in a hotel voluntary offering such option). The room size being standard room is of descent size, the view with the river is spectacular. Breakfast has plenty of options from Japanese to Thai to Continental. The "every 20 minutes" boat shuttle to BTS station is very convenient for seeing Bangkok.I strongly recommend this hotel if your sometimes looking for a little luxury..

great hotel, great buffet Jul 23, 2008
This hotel was great! We stayed here for 3 nights total and had them hold some of our luggage while we went to another part of Thailand.
The rooms are really spacious and the bathrooms have a modern design. The views from the higher floor rooms are awesome. The pool is beautiful. The breakfast buffet was huge and quite tasty. They had multiple kinds of fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, breads for toast, bottled water and several varieties of fruit juices, an egg station, hash browns, waffles and pancakes, and other meat/lunch type of dishes like fried rice, chana masala, smoked meats, etc. The breakfast was really the best part of our stay. There are also some local authentic thai places to eat just around the corner (out on the street) from the hotel. The hotel staff was nice, friendly, and always attentive to our needs. Taxi to/from hotel: Btw, it cost us about 500 baht (fixed rate) for a taxi to this hotel. If you do a metered taxi, the price may vary as we found that some taxi drivers are not always honest. One trip from the airport cost us 350 baht on the meter + 50 baht because it was from the airport + about another 65 baht for the tolls on the expressway. But...the next trip that we took from the airport a few days later (same location) cost us 560 baht on the meter + 50 baht because it was from the airport + the tolls on the expressway. (In general, be wary of scam taxi drivers and people trying to rip you off in Thailand.) |

Aug 23, 2006OK so it is probably beyond most people’s budgets (unless of course you are a lucky Hilton Diamond member like me and can use points J), but this is a beautiful and new hotel relatively centrally located on the far side of the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok, next to the Peninsula Hotel and across from the Oriental. The accommodations are beautiful with large, comfy rooms, incredible beds, blackout screens (nice when you are jet-lagged coming from afar) and a gorgeous bathroom. There is a spectacular pool on the fourth floor overlooking the Chao Phraya including a gym with a large workout room, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath (just in case Bangkok isn’t hot enough for you!)
The staff is super friendly and they have a very helpful concierge desk (although they do tend to recommend higher end, touristy places for meals). There is a shuttle boat every 15 minutes or so across the river to the River City shopping center as well as to Sathorn Pier where the BTS Skytrain is located as well as the Silom district.
Visiting the sights such as the Grand Palace or Wat Pho is a long walk or a short water or car taxi away. Note that if you stay here, you should ask for a card printed in Thai since the taxi driver’s aren’t all aware of this new hotel. If you are trying to get here and they aren’t understanding you, try saying “Heeltawn” that seems to work ;-)
