The Famous Cannoli May 14, 2013
You know you are getting near Mike's Pastry when there is a line coming out the front door, even at 9 PM. Visitors from all over (including President's) come to Mike's to get their famous cannoli. For $3.50, you get a rich ricotta cream filled cannoli with a topping of your choice. I got the chocolate chips. It is so rich and good, but I can only eat one. In fact, when my wife found out I was going to Boston without her, she wanted me to bring her one home. Since I was going home days after our trip, I didn't do it. Needless to say, she was jealous.

If you are in the area, a stop at Mike's is worth it.

Best Cannolis around- always a wait. Sep 13, 2010
If you like Cannolis, visit Mike's in the north end. They have large or small, chocolate chip dipped, freshly chocolated dipped, pistacio dipped, and others. My favorite is their chocolate shell dipped cannolis, but I forget the name exactly. The shell has been completely submerged in chocolate before filling with cheese, then the ends are dipped in chocolate chips. These are HUGE and will last in the refrigerator for later, unlike all other cannolis, because the chocolate casing keeps the shell from getting soggly from the moisture.

Be carefull when you go to Mike's. Any night of the week in the summer can potentially have an hour wait with a line out the door, and the wait is not organized in clear lines inside, so you are constantly worrying about others sneaking in ahead of you and making the wait that much longer. The shop is, however, open early in the morning on both Saturday and Sunday. Recommend going during the day.

Delicious Boston Cream Puff Oct 10, 2009
I had been recommended this pastry shop by two Boston natives and a few other people that had visited Boston. We found it by accident really and decided that I had to try it since it was so highly recommended. It's a very small shop and was very very crowded, but they're pros and I was served pretty quickly.

Everyone told me that they are famous for their cannoli so I had to try it but honestly I think we picked the wrong flavor because neither of us was impressed. I picked just the simple yellow cream cannoli because it looked less sweet than the other options, but honestly I should have gone for something chocolate. I ended up having to push out most of the filling because it was too much. But we did get a Boston Cream Puff and that was amazing!! So I'd have to say that based on our experience I'm sure it's excellent as the cream puff was to die for and perhaps my husband and I just don't like cannoli.

All in all it was fine, but I've had pastry elsewhere that was just as good. I will say that the man who served me was really nice and gave me a 50 cent discount, so I was pretty pleased by that- it pays to be nice.

Mike's Pastry is located in the heart of the North End, Boston's Italian district. You'll know you've found the right spot when you see the line out the door. This is one of the top locations for tourists to check out, and you'll see people carrying Mike's Pastry boxes throughout the North End. Sometimes it seems like literally every other person is carrying one of these boxes around Boston. Mike's specialty are their cannolis, which are excellent. The outside shell is crispy and fried to perfection, and the marscapone inside tastes nothing like cheese. I've heard great things about the Tiramisu and Amaretto cookies as well. On the inside, you'll see pictures of all the famous people who have eaten here, like President Clinton. After visiting, now you can brag to all of your friends that you eat like the President does. Baller status.Don't be alarmed by the length of the line; it moves rather quick and one usually never has to wait more than 10 minutes to order. If you don't feel like ordering take out, try to grab one of the tables inside and a waitress will come by for your order.Mike's Pastry is a must-eat in Boston, and travelers would be well advised to check it out before leaving.

I was in Boston over the summer and saw tons of people carrying the boxes so I asked someone and they pointed me in the right direction! Amazing pastries, must check it out if you're in Boston.
