The Completed Bridge in 2012 Apr 28, 2012
Last year, my family and I traveled to Las Vegas and made a stop at Hoover Dam. This was the fourth time for me since the beginning of the construction of the bridge over the dam. The construction was aimed at diverting traffic away from the dam for security reasons. It was a massive undertaking which took time, labor and money to complete.

Last week, we decided to make another trip to Las Vegas from the Grand Canyon where we had taken my sister for a tour. We naturally stopped at Hoover Dam and walked across the now completed bridge. From above, the marvel of the dam is undeniable.

No wonder it is classifies among the top Wonders of the World. A lot of information about the dam and bridge, their construction and purpose is on display as one enters the secure dam entrance. The old road through has now been closed off and one can only go so far to the top before turning back down. More parking has been added for visitors, I believe the parking fees is $7 per vehicle.A must see for anyone driving to and from Arizona or Nevada. The Bridge connects the two states providing great photo opportunity for the Hoover Dam.

"Travel is an exciting and adventurous passion, it is quite expensive but the reward outweighs the expense. If you can afford it, do it!" Africancrab.

Engineering Marvel Mar 28, 2012
The Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge (http://www.hooverdambypass.org) crosses over Hoover Dam and connects the State of Arizona with the State of Nevada. In March 2012, the American Society of Civil Engineers awarded the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge with the 2012 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award, so I simply had to see this bridge for myself and walk across. Because the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge crosses the Colorado River it is also known as the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge.

Walking the bridge was an experience and the view of Hoover Dam was stunning. The Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is definitely worth a visit. So, if you are planning to visit Hoover Dam, plan on visiting the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, you will not be disappointed and besides admission is FREE. Take US Highway 93 to access the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.

Hoover Dam, An Architectural Wonder May 10, 2011
Wow, Definitely an architectural wonder are the thoughts crossed my mind when I have seen the dam from the walkover bridge. This bridging greatness is named as Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.

Hoover dam is one of the Major tourist attractions near Las Vegas. This is a concrete arch-gravity dam is located in between the Arizona and Nevada. While entering to Las Vegas from Arizona, we will see the entrance of this dam. Entrance is free for all. On our way, towards the closure time we went to see this dam. The staff at the entrance are helpful and guided us to reach the parking lot and bridge. Walked all the bridge from one end to other and enjoyed the view of the dam.

This dam was constructed by thousands of workers to handle the flood water. Now the generators here will provide the required electricity to many states of USA. This marvelous construction is located 25 mi from Las vegas near to boulder city towards Arizona border.

I recommend this evening place for all Las Vegas visitors.

Outstanding Architectural & Construction Workmanship Jan 13, 2011
There are not enough words to describe the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge constructed over the Hoover Dam, well over the Colorado river. For years, I traveld to and from Las Vegas, crossed the dam, and there was construction going on. I believe in three years, I saw the bridge progress each time. The last time I had gone past the dam was a little over a year. Today I was amazed to find it completed. The bridge is also called the Hoover dam Bypass.

Coming in from Arizona, there is no access to the dam anymore, except over the bridge. One must go over the bridge then make a right turn loop back to the dam at an almost 35 degree slop. The bridge was officially opened in October last year (October 2010),and became the second highest in the United States.

Highly recommended.
