Inside look at a North Korean farm May 03, 2010
The Migok Cooperative Farm was another mandatory stop in North Korea. Here we got a tour and view of how farmers grow and produce food on their farmland.
First we were given a tour in a museum, where we saw a lot of photos of both Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, who had also visited this place several times. The items that the Kim Il Sung had touched, were even put on display and writing explained it!
Then we were taken to an hot & humid greenhouse, were we saw how they grew vegetables and used snails for environmental pest control.
Back in the bus for a short drive up the hill, where we had a lookout over the valley where much farmland seemed to be doing very well. And the nearby village looked almost brand new.
We also got a tour into one of the houses of the people working on the fields. It was quite a spacious house, looking clean and fitted with everything a normal household would have.
As all the visits to the various sites were included in the tour, it was unknown to me about the costs. That's why I made them free.
Part of the list What to see and do in North Korea
