Microtel Inn & Suites Airport Kansas City

A nice cheap hotel, low frills hotel.

I was at a work training close to the KCI airport and this hotel was the most affordable. While the hotel is older the room and linens were clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a large flat screen TV in there and free wi-fi.

A free continental breakfast was included as well.

Service was great. They were attentive, responsive, and prompt. Their free hotel shuttle was invaluable because this circle of hotels is close to the airport and nothing else.

The closest shops I could find (Zona Rosa) were a $15 cab ride south. The only food (beyond the other hotels in the area) was a small sub shop a good 10 min walk from the hotel. I recommend renting a car because public transportation in this area is non-existant and there's very little actually close to this hotel.

If you are visiting Kansas City this is not a good hotel because the airport (KCI) is very far from the city and this airport is very close to the city. If you have a rental car and are on business this hotel would make sense. It's right next door to the Kansas City Expo Hall so that's a good reason too.
