The Micasa Restaurante specializes in Portuguese cuisine and also has one of Maputo’s best wine selections; many Portuguese wines, but also a good selection of African wines. We shared a couple of bottles of South African wine. This is a real nice place, with a subdued ambience, candles, lots of African culture in their artwork and decor, linen cloths on the closely spaced tables, and nicely prepared food. Besides the Portuguese cuisine, the menu offers a wide variety of seafood, meat and pasta dishes. Pretty much all of the patrons are tourists, business travelers, and even diplomats and government officials. The prices are very reasonable for the food, but the wine can be expensive. Some bottles were close to 200USD. The wine we selected was about 40USD. The night we came here was very busy, and when we arrived they asked if we had a reservation. When we told them we did not, they were very gracious in getting us a table large enough to accommodate us, because all the spaces they had open were for two. The service was awesome and the food was exceptional.
