The best brunch ever Mar 02, 2015
When we first arrived for a family lunch at Metropolis Caffe, we were told that we have to wait for some time, as there was a bunch of people eating their meals. We understood the situation and decided to wait for sometime instead of driving somewhere else. Now I am happy that, we made the effort, because the food there was heavenly and exactly the way we enjoy.

We were about 10 or 11 people and ordered for quite a sumptuous meal. It was a three course meal which the chef and wait stuff handled with perfection and made my day more special.

A piece of traditional cafe culture Sep 12, 2010
New Zealanders have a very extensive café culture which I haven't experienced before. Therefore Metropolis Caffe is one of the places to go when you want to lean back and relax, savour a delicious cup of coffee and grab a bite to eat during a tour throughout Hamilton.

Metropolis Caffe is located in Victoria Street where cafés and restaurants string together like pearls on a long necklace.

So, why should you try this particular place then?

This established café has been there for many years, is a favourite of locals and tourists which offers both a large range of light snacks, creamy cakes and solid meals, and this very special ambiance.

The atmosphere could be described as a mixture of modern lifestyle characterized by rustic (rather a bit darkish) decor and art work made by local artists that are also available for sale, and a certain tradition awareness caused by a long-lasting popularity, also especially among students who prefer to come to this café for generations.

The menu consists of a great number of good, easy and fancied dishes. Everyone's going to find a favourite, whether sweet or hearty, whether hot or cold. Just make a choice: toasted muesli with stewed rhubarb or waffles with bacon and grilled banana, green Thai chicken curry or hot chocolate pudding with vanilla ice-cream or … As you see, picking the right one isn't done that easily.

Truly recommendable are the different variants of coffee and hot chocolate too. Really liked this huge bowl of 'hot chocolate soup', so to speak.

The friendly staff brought two bottles of water as refreshment and the menus straight away. Although the service could have been a tiny bit more attentive during our stay.

To sum up, I have to say that Metropolis Caffe is worth a visit especially when you're looking for a place to have a welcome break in the middle of a busy day in town.
