Our initial plan was to visit the Colosseum and then the Vatican but that soon changed when we got onto the wrong Metro train (Metro A instead of Metro B)!

Getting to the Coliseum is easy: a quick Metro ride from the hotel and there we were. I was here a few years ago, but that first glimpse of the Coliseum when you exit the Metro Station still is very impressive.

It turned out that using the Rome Metro was the easiet, fastest, most reliable, most cost efficient way to go about the city and visit the many sites and attractions. A ticket was good all day and between the two Metro lines, there wasn't really anywhere you couldn't go to of significance… Roma |

We bought metro tickets at the Tabacchi store and set off. I gave Michele a quick lesson on navigating the metro system, but didn't want to linger long in front of the map because only tourists don't know where they are going!
We emerged… Just try not to look like a tourist... |

Repubblica metro station was just up the road and we headed for there. The Rome Metro system isn't going to tax anyones brains, you have Line A and Line B and they crossover at Termini. Repubblica was on Line A ,so we got off at Termini… Rome March 09 |
