Metro Cafe Bangkok Reviews
Best coffee in Bangkok!! Oct 11, 2011
The Metro Cafe is conveniently located on Sukhumvit Soi 18, under the Oakwood Apartments, about a 5 minute walk from Asoke BTS and Sukhumvit MRT stations. It is directly across the street from the newly opened Park Plaza Hotel and The Rembrandt Hotel.
It is more of an up-market cafe, and is more like a restaurant than a cafe. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and caters mostly for local expats and visitors of the Oakwood Apartments. The decor is very stylish, with big glass windows so you have a great view of the street if you sit inside, and a big wooden deck for the outside seating area. The chef is visible to everyone, so you can watch your meals being cooked to perfection. The bar is also long and stylish.
Coffee at the Metro Cafe is amazing! They use freshly ground coffee beans, and it is served hot! Prices are under 120 baht for a cup of coffee. The food at the cafe is limited, and mainly light meals and sweets, but all will satisfy. The chicken ceasar salad is delicious, and presentation of the food was immaculate. Their desserts are also very good, but big portioned, so 1 is enough for 2 people to share. Main meal portions are rather small, but there is enough food to satisfy. They also have a pretty good Thai lunch special for only 99baht every day, but I am yet to try this.
Staff are friendly, ready to help and please, and speak very good English.
Everything about this place says upper-class, but with out the price tag.
