Meteor Crater Vacation Guide

Meteor Crater is located 35 miles east of Flagstaff, AZ and 20 miles west of Winslow, AZ. There is an RV Park that is not that bad, and has a Mobil gas station right off the I-40 interstate.

Meteor Crater is over 4,000 feet across, and 550 feet deep. A 1,406 pound meteorite fragment, the largest ever found in the area, is on display for visitors to view and touch.

The visitor center has four observation areas with telescopes that allow you a close up look at points of interest in the crater. Daily guided rim tours allow those with proper hiking shoes to venture about 1/3 mile around the crater rim.

Before moving to Australia I was working in South Africa for a company based in Tucson Arizona. On multiple occasions I had to go to the head office and had opportunities to visit, during the weekends, this spectacular state of the American South West.
