Metamorphis Hotel Prague

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The location is prime for touristy sight seers as well as the casual visitor, smack in the middle of a small, cute 13th century square that is smack in the middle of the greater area of Stare Mesto... less than a minute's walk to the central square (Old Town Hall, St Nicholes, Astronomical Clock) and even closer to Tyn Cathedral. The square itself is filled with boutique-y shops, like Anagram, an English language bookstore (I think their selection competes with Big Ben and even the Globe), Dr. Stuart's Botanicus, a glorious all-organic, all Czech-made natural body product shop, Italian, Indian, and Czech restaurants, an Irish bar, and two small coffee shops as well as the standard tourist shopping niches. Just around the corner is one of the most quality sushi restaurants I have ever been to in my life, Mr. Sushi, as well as a Dali-esque melting-clock shop, a music bar, French restaurant, English pub, and Big Ben Books.

It's not nearly as cheap as a budget hotel or hostel, but has fair rates and is well worth the price. We paid about 100 euros/night for a brief stay in early June, which I assume is the mid-beginning of tourist season. Also, it includes a killer FREE breakfast (truly Intercontinental way to start the day...American-style eggs and bacon and toast, as well as the more European cold cuts, cheese, and fruits. They even had hard boiled eggs, paczki, and struedel). There is also FREE WiFi in the rooms and in the adjoining restaurant downstairs. Staff was very helpful, and reception is open 24 hrs.

The rooms themselves are standard European-style, with modern decor and amenities. "King size" beds are two twins pushed together, but this is typical for Europe and was not a problem at all, for the comforter and mattress were cozy enough.

All in all, a stellar way to sleep and stay in Prague.
