Messner Hotel Venice

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Messner in Venice for 2 nights from 10/6/08 – 10/8/08. To sum it up… we got what we paid for. We bought our stay through hotels.com for $168 a night with all fees and taxes. That’s a cheaper hotel in Venice. Be careful most hotels don’t have a private bathroom. This hotel offered both options. Our room was with a private bathroom.

What we liked:
•Close to water bus stop. Only one bridge to cross with luggage
•Breakfast included in price.
•Clean enough
•Close to Accademia Bridge which takes you over to the side with San Marco
•Decent size room for Europe (didn’t feel cramped)
•Hairdryer in room but was a bit of a pain.
•Friendly/Helpful staff that spoke pretty good English.
•Extra pillows in the cabinet
•Close to Nico’s Gelateria

What we didn’t like:
•Small room for US
•Smelled like smoke even though it was a non-smoking room.
•Double rooms are two beds pushed together to make one bigger bed.
•Uncomfortable beds. Had springs popping out the top.
•No Lift
•TV was very small. Only English channel was MTV
•Old
•Very small stall shower
•Doors close at 1am so be back by then.
•No hangers
•Internet was only available for a fee.
•Our room window opened to the courtyard so the noise of some people woke us in the morning.
