On the road again for 9am, after breakfast, and drove back down the road to Boumaine and back onto the main road. The road climbed through Boumaine and as we went up the hill we got to stop and take some photos of the town. On a hill overlooking it some Arabic writing was cut into the hill, and we …

In the morning we got up at 5.30am to watch the sun rising over Algeria, was way too sore to climb up the huge dune again, so made do with a smaller one to sit on as it was freezing!
We trekked on the camels to the Sahara Auberge where we were staying. I was lovely to have a nap, sunbathe and ha…

After quite a long bus trip from Zagora we reached Merzouga. Merzouga is a small village in southeastern Morocco and it is only 20 kilometres away from the Algerian border. The village is most famous for Erg Chebbi, a Saharan erg, and it is for this reason a part of the itineraries of many tourists…

Today we headed out for probably the highlight of the entire trip; a camel ride into the Sahara desert and the berber camp that would be our home for the evening. Even the drive out there was eventful. Our driver got us stuck in the sand so it ended up becoming a team effort to get us moving again,…

No trip to Morocco is complete without a trip to the sahara desert to ride around in a camel and then drinking lots of water and throwing the bottles in the sand.
Basically you rent a hotel in a desert oasis or hang out with some tauregs, they feed you, you sleep, then wake up and you ride …

I arrived at Merzouga and stayed at a little kasbah on the edge of the mighty Sahara. It was a night bus on which I got no sleep ... but the reward was seeing the sun rise over the sandy horizon.
I will let the pictures do the talking.

After crossing the Sahara four times, I'm not a huge fan of sand dunes. For me, a sand dune is something that blocks the road when you're trying to get somewhere, not something you travel across the country to see. But, after being asked 20 times "have you been to Merzouga? You ha…

Well, this is my first blog so, hope to show you some highlights of my travel.
I did this travel on April 2004 with my BMW R 1150 GS with 7 friends.
The travel was from Barcelona to Almeria. There we tooked Ferry Marroc to Nador and we expend only nights on each stop and traveled all days to the next stop.
Nador, Missour, Er Rachidia, Zagora, Merzouga, Ait Ben Haddou, Marrakech, Fez and Nador again. Amazing travel. 13 days long.
