My final stop for the day was in Merrickville, a quick drive down the road from the Clowes Locks. Merrickville is a popular stop for many, full of many historic buildings, good food, knick knacks, and three sets of locks. I parked my car up the main street and walked down toward the water. I spent some time walking through the Blockhouse, one of four along the canal that was meant as a fortification against American invasion. Lots of history in there.
